Well, with this post I will have completed all 23 things - and just in the nick of time, I might add.

I would definetly welcome more opportunities for another such discovery exercise.

As we have learned during this journey, our world is changing faster than ever. I am happy and not the least bit surprised that those in the Library world are keeping up.

Thanks again to the blog team for all of their efforts.

I will be moving to the 24th thing and revisiting some of the sites and ideas covered in the first 23 I am sure.

It has also been fun and elightening to talk with other staff members about their 2.0 experiences.

Adventure Sixteen

I am probably one of the biggest fans of our e-audio books and am always glad to see the number of uses go up on the monthly Library statistics report.

I am hopefull we will see the numbers continue to grow.

Sure makes my half hour commute to and from work enjoyable - not to mention all of my pesky chores at home that go much quicker when I am listening to a book.

Here is a podcast site created by the University of Arizona known as the Library Channel. They have some interesting dialog with regard to how the Librarians are doing training for students in the classroom about new technologies at the Library.

Their Library Chanel was created to keep their staff and faculty up to date with their goings on.

YouTube certainly has a lot of content. There might be a point that the Library would want to share a video clip of one of our programs or a message we might want to get out. Maybe sharing one of our Baby Brilliant training sessions - or some back ground about the concept and program?

Golf is one of our hobbies and here is a clip of the World's greatest golfer with some of his best shots.

Nobody does it like Tiger Woods. Fore.................

I looked at the google site for documents.

Again - I think that having a document available online that could be shared might prove helpful at some point to the Library.

I can see how Zoho would be helpful. Also being able to create something in HTML or take something from a Word file to a PDF file and vice a versa is something that I have wanted to do on more than one occassion.

Also - being able to share a document on the web from any pc has good potential that I can see the Library possibly using.

I have used Wikipedia before and found it helpful.

Within our Library - I wonder if a WIKI would be helpful when we are trying to have community and staff input - say on a particular project or on a long range plan update?

Maybe a WIKI with a Readers Advisory review? I know that LibraryThing offers users input - but this one would have major input from Librarians.

The articles about Library 2.00 presented some interesting thoughts and articulated the environments that Libraries finds themselves in today. As time goes on it seems that life is becoming more and more complicated and change, which has always been a constant, is now much more accelerated, due in large part to changing technology. The idea of making things easier for end users makes great senses as does removing barriers to that end.

As I read these articles, I was reminded of a project I had last year which involved reading through the Library's Board minutes from it's inception up to the present. It was very interesting to see that back in the early 1900's they were dealing with many of the problems we are dealing with today - such as how to get the teens involved and interested in the Library, dealing with rowdy youths after school by employing off duty police men and having to close the Library for several days as a result of an influenza out break (talk about pendemic?)

Makes me wonder what Libraries 100 years from now will really be like.

I claimed my blog on Technorti and am going to try adding html tags to my next posts. I was happy to see that Libraries were under the "popular" listing.
I was also happy to see how many hits I got when I searched on YPL and PLYMC.

Tagging and Del.icio are interesting concepts that I am glad I checked out. I can see how Del.icio would be a good reference site for public service folks as well as for myself. Doing searching from the Del.icio site may narrow down and hone in on more pertinent information I think.

Rollyo could prove helpful in searching for topics that are similar in nature I think. Such as if you are looking for recipes.

I created one just with some sites I use when I am looking for some specific recipes.

LibraryThing is very interesting and might be helpful to recommend to patrons through our Reader's Services staff.

I can see how Bloglines is helpful in creating and adding contents to blogs.

As far as the RSS feeds goes - it is just amazing how much content there is out there on the web and how far we have come from when the internet was new and where we will go from here.

There is a lot of content at Flickr. All very interesting - I am hoping to spend some more time exploring more of what there is. I am still working on trying to figure out the layout my blog - all fun stuff.

Well - I am off and running on my next big adventure with the 23 learning steps.

I am looking forward to continuing my life long learning process and was glad to be reminded in the 7 1/2 steps that one needs to set goals.

I want to thank the Library for the opportunity to broaden my horizons and tech knowlege.
